VPN is an acronym for Virtual Private Network and is used to provide a means for users to connect their computers to the campus network from home or while traveling. To use VPN, the AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client software must first be installed on your computer by following the steps below.
1. Using a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari, go to this website: https://vpn.washburn.edu. You will be presented with the screen shown below.
Enter your WUAD login credentials, in the form of email@example.com, along with your WUAD password.
Internet Explorer users: Web-based installation is not supported in the 64-bit version of Internet Explorer. Disregard this note if you are using any other browser.
To find out if you are using the 64-bit version of Internet Explorer, go to "Help" and then "About Internet Explorer." Under 'Version' it will list "64-bit Edition." See below. If you are running the 64-bit version, proceed to step 2 marked for Internet Explorer users.
2. After providing your logon credentials the installation process for the proper software will automatically begin, and after a short time you will be presented with the Windows User Account Control screen as displayed below. Click Yes.
Internet Explorer users: Please wait for the 30 seconds to count down. Then click on the link "Windows Dekstop." Internet Explorer will ask if you'd like to run installation of the software or save it. Click on the "Run" button. It will guide you through the rest of the installation process.
