Employee Wellness

Employee Wellness

The mission of the Washburn University Employee Wellness Program is to promote a culture of wellness by facilitating a supportive environment that encourages university faculty and staff to initiate and maintain behaviors that enhance their total health. Total health includes elements of emotional, intellectual, physical, social, occupational, environmental, and spiritual wellness.

All benefits-eligible employees of Washburn University and the Washburn University Foundation have the opportunity to participate in the employee wellness program.

The Employee Wellness Program was established in 2006.

Letter from the President:

The mission of the Washburn University Employee Wellness Program is to facilitate an environment encouraging faculty and staff to enhance their health. Washburn University has made a substantial investment in this program, but it is really an investment in you. Most of us spend almost as much with our work family as we do with our own family. We are attached to, invested in, and care about each other. Our wish for every member of the Washburn employee family is to be happy and healthy.

Your wellness has direct benefits to Washburn University beyond how much we care about you as a person. Your health and wellness helps our university enjoy a level of energy and drive allowing us to be a culture of achievement and excellence. We want you to be at the top of your game and your health is an essential element.

If you are part of the Wellness Program, we are delighted you want to continue. Recruit a co-worker. If you are new or considering participation, just start. Do what you can to enjoy a better life.

Letter from the Employee Wellness Coordinator:

Welcome to the Washburn University Employee Wellness Program. We are here to support and guide you as well as provide healthy opportunities that facilitate growth in the multiple dimensions of health: physical, emotional, social, environmental, intellectual, occupational, and spiritual. Wellness is a positive approach to living that emphasizes the whole person.  It is a state of being in which optimal balance is achieved between the mind and body. In order to achieve a state of wellness in our own lives we must pay careful attention to each of the dimensions. We may not all be physically fit or free from disease, but we can all strive for improved wellness.

I’m here to help as many Washburn University employees as I can achieve a better state of wellness. Not all of us are at the same place, but don’t worry, our Employee Wellness Program is designed for all employees regardless of your wellness state. If individual wellness is what you need, then sign up for the Fitness Assessment and I can meet with you one-on-one and help you achieve your goals. I encourage you to participate in our services and be on the road to complete wellness.
