 Washburn Night at the K banner

Join the Kansas City Royals and Washburn University for the first Washburn Night at the K on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 7:10pm! Join your fellow Ichabod fans to watch the defending American League Champion Royals take on the Detroit Tigers. Arrive early to see Jerry Farley, president of Washburn, throw out the first pitch to the Ichabod mascot.

Discounted tickets are available for purchase online through the Royals website leading up to the event on September 1, but fans are encouraged to purchase early. It's a T-shirt Tuesday as well, so the first 10,000 fans through the stadium gates will receive a co-branded t-shirt.

Washburn Night at the K is made possible for the University and the School of Law by Advisors Excel, Midwest Health, Kuckelman Torline Kirkland Lewis, Nell Hill’s, Hutchins & Haake LLC, and Polsinelli.

Bus from Topeka to the K

Leave the driving to Washburn and ride our private, deluxe motor coach to Washburn Night at the K.  

Buses will depart from the front of the Petro Allied Health Center at 19th and Washburn.

Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015

  • 3:45 p.m. – Arrive and load the buses
  • 4 p.m. – Bus departs from the University to arrive at the stadium when the gates open at 5:30 p.m.
  • 7:10 p.m. – Game begins
  • Buses will return to Topeka immediately following the game.

Seating is limited for bus transportation. The cost to ride the bus is $18 per person – this is for the bus ride only and does not include your ticket to the game, which must be purchased separately through the Royals’ website.

  • Enjoy food and drinks and visit with fellow Washburn graduates and friends at After Hours.
  • Each year, the Alumni Association honors Fellows from each of the university’s colleges and schools.
  • Each year, the Alumni Association honors Washburn alumni achieving in their fields and the community with Alumni Awards.
  • You can help current Washburn students by participating in the Fun Run, which funds Alumni Association scholarships.
  • Join us for reunions honoring alumni who graduated 50, 60 and 70 years ago.
  • Join us during football season for tailgating! Enjoy hot dogs, beer, chips, cookies and water before each home game.
  • Every other month, the Alumni Association hosts a Top of the Tower luncheon at the Bank of America building in downtown Topeka.
  • You can experience the world through the Alumni Association. We’ve traveled with alumni to China, The Baltics and several other countries on our travel opportunities.
  • During each academic year, you have four opportunities to hear Washburn alumni talk about their careers at our Wake Up With Washburn breakfast series.
  • Other events include stops in Manhattan, Kan., Phoenix, Ariz., and Washington, D.C. We also host an event at Ameistar Casino in Kansas City. Check out our Gatherings page for information on more events.

Advisors Excel co-founders

David Callanan, Cody Foster and Derek Thompson, the co-founders of Topeka-based Advisors Excel, open the 2015-16 season of Wake Up With Washburn at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 3. The remaining breakfast lectures are: Nov. 19, Karen Neilinger, real estate developer, financial services, author; Feb. 25, Colby Fries, director of pharmacy and retail operations, Walgreen Co.; April 21, Carol Rogers, CEO, Rogers & Co.
