Communication

The Communication Department provides a curriculum that focuses on the in-depth study of human communication, strengthens other majors, and enhances the general education offerings of the University. The faculty prepares students for success in a broad range of settings by providing the necessary communication competence for a liberal arts and sciences education. Faculty excellence is maintained through continuous growth in teaching, scholarship and service.

Educational and Employment Opportunities

Communication majors enter the job market as human resource managers, speech writers, ombudsmen, lobbyists, public information officers, mediators, personnel directors, managers, directors of non-profit organizations, school administrators, ministers, labor negotiators, and communication consultants. This major prepares students for career success. Communication majors go to graduate school, law school, and other professional programs.

Internships

Communication majors have interned for political offices, banks, hospitals, not-for-profit organizations, law firms, and various corporations.
